What's An Invisible Pet Barrier?

Invisible pet barriers are small wireless transmitter and collar sets that function like a mini electric dog fence system. These units are used to create off-limits areas or barriers to keep your dog or cat out of certain areas of your house. Indoor dog fences are used within the home, while outdoor wireless zones are similar but are used in the yard and may have an option to operate in wired mode just like an in-ground dog fence.

How Do Pet Barriers Work?

Indoor pet fence transmitters are small, disc-shaped units that are either battery operated or plug into a standard outlet for power. They transmit a wireless, size adjustable, circular boundary. Your dog wears a receiver collar that communicates with the transmitter and issues a warning tone if your dog nears the boundary and a static correction if he continues into the off-limits area. Like the Indoor Barriers, outdoor wireless zones create off-limits areas in your yard. Some outdoor zones function wirelessly just like the indoor zones, others have the option to operate wireless or in wired mode using buried wire to increase the boundary capacity and allow for a custom shape rather than a circle. Both Indoor and Outdoor Pet Barriers compatible with a variety of electric dog fence systems so one collar can be used for both the containment fence and the wireless barrier. What Are Wireless Pet Barriers Used For?

Popular uses for Indoor Dog Fences include keeping pets off of furniture, blocking certain rooms of the home or stairs (without the use of a baby gate or other physical barrier), and keeping Rover from barreling through an open front door. Outdoor Zones Barriers are often used to keep pets out of swimming pools, away from flower or vegetable gardens, and to protect gates or other access points like the garage door so the dog doesn't bolt when you open it.

Can I Use A Pet Barrier WIth My Electric Dog Fence?

The short answer is, maybe. Both indoor and outdoor pet barriers are compatible with specific PetSafe and Innotek in-ground electric dog fence systems. There are no pet barriers that are currently compatible with a wireless dog fence. Outdoor pet barrier zones are often used in conjunction with in-ground pet fence systems to create small off-limits areas within the perimeter of the pet fence. Each Pet Barrier system is compatible with specific electric dog fence system collars so be sure to check the compatibility list on each product if you plan to add the zones to an existing system.
