At Flexpetz we strive to make your electric dog fence decision-making as easy as possible through information sharing as well as through our convenient product catalog. When it comes to choosing an in-ground dog fence, you'll make your selection based on things like the size of your dogs, the size of your property, and any special or unique features you need like lightening protection or battery back-up. If you haven't already, have a look at our In-Ground Dog Fence Comparison Chart to help you select the right DIY Dog Fence for you and your pet. Once you've selected a dog fence kit that meets your primary needs you can customize the fence further right on the product page by upgrading wire, or adding installation supplies, like wire and surge protection to your fence kit.
Standard DIY Dog Fence Kits
The basic dog fence kits you'll find in this category are in-ground electric dog fence kits exactly as they are packaged by the manufacturer. What's included in each dog fence kit varies slightly by manufacturer and by kit. For example, some dog fence kits (like the PetSafe YardMax or Perimeter Deluxe Ultra) come with a basic surge protector whereas other kits do not. Most basic dog fence kits come standard with some amount of factory-grade 20-gauge boundary wire, but some kits, like the SportDOG Containment Fence, come with double the wire that most other kits include. All in-ground electric dog fences come with a transmitter, a receiver collar, some amount of factory-grade boundary wire, training flags, and a couple of waterproof wire splices. Just what you need for a very small, very basic, in-ground fence installation. If you plan to fence more than about 1/3 of an acre, have more than 1 dog, or want to create exclusion zones within your fenced area, you'll need to create a custom fence by adding more wire, additional collars, etc.
Customizing Your Electric Dog Fence
At Flexpetz, we make it easy for you to tailor your in-ground dog fence to your specific needs without the hassle of detailed e-mails or calling a customer service center. You can purchase your in-ground dog fence kit in the manufacturer format or use our on-page customization's to upgrade your kit to include more wire, better wire, no wire, better surge protection, additional collars, and more. On each of our basic dog fence kit product pages you'll see a variety of drop-down menus allowing you to customize your dog fence kit. We know these fences, so the customization's you'll see on each page vary depending on what is included or compatible with the specific fence you are viewing.
Most dog fence installations will require additional wire and we almost always recommend upgrading to pro-grade wire. You can read all about the differences between the factory-grade wire that the manufacturers include with their kits and the pro-grade wire that you can purchase separately here, on our Dog Fence Wire Selection info page.
