A dog fence collar is only as good as the battery in it! Low battery power in your wireless dog fence collar can result in increased boundary wobble, delayed correction, or no warning or correction at all. Be sure to have a charger or spare batteries for each collar so you never find yourself unable to use your fence system due to lack of battery power in the collar.
If you have a rechargeable collar, get into the habit of plugging the collar in every evening when you bring your dog in for the night. Establishing a routine like this will ensure your collar is always fully charged and ready for the next day.
If you have a non-rechargeable collar with a low battery warning light, keep an eye out for the low battery light to illuminate. Change the batteries at the first sign of the low battery light. Batteries that are low enough to trigger the indicator light are too low to be reliable.
If your non-rechargeable collar does not have a low battey indicator light, be diligent about checking the collar battery with the test light provided or by walking toward the perimeter and listening for the activation of the warning tone.
