Boundary (or training) flags are used to demarcate the perimeter you've established for your dog, giving the dog a visual on their new boundaries. Flexpetz boundary flags are larger than the factory grade flags that are included with your electric dog fence system, making them easier for your dog to spot from a distance. Our flags are mounted on a 12" steel shaft making them sturdy and durable.
The flags are installed at 4-6 ft. intervals all along the active perimeter of your fence. The flags are left in place during the training phase while your dog learns to recognize the boundary. Once your dog is fully trained and knows where the perimeter is you'll gradually remove the flags. Flexpetz recommends removing every other flag , every other day, until all of the flags are removed.
For more information on the role of boundary flags in training please see the Removing Flags section of our Flexpetz Training Guide
Pet fence boundary flags (also referred to as 'training flags') are used as visual aids during the training phase with a new in-ground fence system. The flags physically mark the perimeter you've chosen, letting your dog see the boundary while she learns about her new freedom. After installing your in-ground fence wire, you'll use these flags to mark the perimiter. Flexpetz boundary flags are larger than the factory grade flags you'll receive with your electric dog fence system. This maks them easier for the dog to identify from a distance, aiding in a quick training process.

I was able to buy the wire meter from here and the flags. It took me about 1/2 hour to mark my yard. I saved quite a bit of money. Now I can use the wire meter if I do break the wire in the future. No more expensive service calls! (Posted on 1/21/2013) - Training Flags
