Overview PetSafe YardMax PIG00-11115 PRO-Grade ManualProduct Manual
The YardMax is the newest fence from PetSafe. This system takes the best features from all other PetSafe systems and adds a few new features. The YardMax system boasts one of the most compact and lightweight collars on the market, yet still manages one of the highest maximum correction settings as well as individual correction levels for each collar on the system, so its a great choice for most breeds and an equally good choice for single and multi-dog households. The YardMax collar is compatible with all 3 PetSafe Pawz Away indoor and outdoor barriers. The most exciting new feature is the system's namesake - the YardMax space-saving technology. In YardMax mode, the correction zone extends infinitely on the outside of your boundary wire to maximize yard space while making it more difficult for your dog to run through. Our PRO-Grade System adds professional-grade burial wire, dual function surge protector, ground staples, and an extended warranty.

Kit Includes
  • PRO-Grade 14-Gauge Wire (500 ft.)
  • PRO-Grade 16-Gauge Twisted Wire (50 ft.)
  • PRO-Grade Surge Protection Module
  • PRO-Grade Dog Fence Staples (10)
  • Dual Mode Transmitter
  • Rechargeable Collar Receiver
  • Collar Receiver Charger
  • 2 Waterproof Splice Kits
  • 50 Training Boundary Flags
  • Long and Short Receiver Contacts
  • Contact Point Training Caps
  • Test Light Tool/Contact Wrench
  • Installation/Training Manual

Collar Features

Small & Lightweight: The PetSafe YardMax collar uses a very small collar. Suitable for dogs as little as 10 lbs., the entire collar weighs only 3 oz. This collar is almost as tiny as the PetSafe Elite Little Dog PRO-Grade, but doesn't have quite as low correction levels.

Five Progressive Correction Levels: The YardMax offers 5 progressive correction level setting for each dog on the system. The correction levels are adjusted on the collar itself. Despite the small size, the correction levels range from medium to strong - stronger than the PetSafe UltraSmart system but not quite as strong as the Stubborn Dog.

Individual Correction: PetSafe has finally developed a system with individual correction level settings so you can effectively use a YardMax collar for each dog over 10 lbs. with its own correction level settings. No more mix & match PetSafe collars!

Rechargeable: The collar uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. The collar battery is recharged by way of a charging cord that plugs into a port on the underside of the collar. The collar charges in about 2 hours and the charge lasts about a month.

Fit Test & Ready Test: A poorly fitted collar is the second most common problem leading to less than 100% containment (incomplete training being the #1 reason). The YardMax collar offers the Fit Test feature. This handy feature confirms that the collar is properly fitted each time you put it on your dog.

Short & Long Contact Points: The system comes with both short and long contact points as well as a contact point tool. The small wrench makes switching contact points easier. Long contact points are particularly useful for dogs with thick or long fur.

Pet Barrier Compatibility: The YardMax collar is compatible with PetSafe's Pawz Away Outdoor Pet Barrier, Pawz Away Indoor Pet Barrier, Pawz Away Indoor Mini-Pet Barrier, and Pawz Away Threshold Pet Barrier

Transmitter Features

YardMax™ Mode: The most exciting feature of the new PetSafe YardMax is the system's namesake YardMax™ mode. This is the first system ever to offer a unique space-maximizing feature that projects the correction zone only on the outside of the wire rather than in all directions so you can really make the most of your yard space.

Run-Through Prevention: The run-through prevention is another unique and really useful feature. Most dog fence systems have a set boundary width so the dog can actually run all the way through the boundary zone to where he is no longer being corrected but will receive a correction again if he tries to re-enter his yard. But in YardMax mode, the correction zone continues indefinitely on the outside of the boundary wire so the dog cannot run all the way through the boundary. For safety, the system still has a 10 second timeout on the correction, but this feature will really help with training.

10 Acre Capacity: The YardMax is capable of powering 10 acres. While this is suitable for most suburban properties, we wish it was strong enough to power larger rural spaces as well.

Lacks Backup Battery: This PetSafe system does not offer a battery backup for the transmitter. While this isn't a problem for many of our customers, it is certainly something to consider if you live in an area prone to power outages.

PRO-Grade Upgrades

500 ft. Heavy Duty Pro-Grade Wire: Our Pro-Grade Kits include upgraded 14-gauge PRO-Grade wire. This heavy duty, polyelethene plastic coated wire is what would come with a professionally installed system like Invisible Fence®. Upgrading to thicker, more durable wire helps prevent costly and time-consuming wire breaks.

50 ft. Heavy Duty Pro-Grade Twisted Wire: Although you could use two double long strands of wire to make your own twisted wire, this gets pretty messy and difficult if you need any decent length of it. Our PRO-Grade DIY dog fence kits save you the hassle by including 50 ft. of heavy duty pro-grade twisted neutral dog fence wire.

External Surge Protection: External surge protection is the best thing you can do to protect your investment. Rather than let a rogue power surge blow your transmitter, simply plug in our heavy duty PRO-Grade surge protection module. This surge protector keeps your dog fence safe from lightening strikes and main power surges.

10 Heavy Duty Ground Staples: Ground staples are perfect for laying out your dog fence wire or for installations that run through terrain where burying the wire is difficult or impossible. Our heavy duty ground staples are guaranteed to keep your dog fence wire in place.

Extended 3-Year Warranty: Our PRO-Grade systems are backed by an upgraded 3-year warranty. We extended the warranty to effectively triple the manufacturer's 1-year warranty.

  1. The YardMax fence by PetSafe is a very good investment. The system works perfectly. Review by Lynn Windslow

The PetSafe YardMax pro fence is very impressive. I don't think any of the other fences that Flexpetz sells has the same ability for the dog to get right up to the perimeter wire before she gets a signal warning.
Most fences like this will start to alarm when the dog gets several feet out from the wire. This fence gives the dog the most amount of yard space to play in, so she doesn't feel cooped up in a tiny space.
The staff at Flexpetz helped me with all the questions I had for them, over 2 separate phone calls.
I felt very comfortable in my purchase and prepared to get it all setup by myself. Actually, I had help, but I felt as though I could have done the whole task alone.
I would give this fence two thumbs up.

  2. Great system. I just wish the Yardmax came with a non-rechargeable collar instead. Review by Joe Hackney

I chose the Yardmax professional fence because I liked the fact that it comes with a much stronger, larger wire coupled with the function of being able to get right up to that wire before getting the zaps. I do not have a large yard at my home and cannot afford to have any of it impeded by the correction area that most of the fence systems put off.
The Yardmax professional fence is perfect for my layout, and lhasa. However, I prefer to have a collar with batteries. I'm not a big fan of rechargeable things. They never seem to last as long for me as I feel they should.
Maybe Petsafe will make a regular battery operated collar that will work with this fence, but for now -I'll use the rechargeable and hope it lasts a long time.

  3. This dog fence is terrific. Review by Alexa Rover

This system is terrific. I am very happy with the investment that I made with this dog fence. Everything ran smoothly with the system and my 3 dogs. I took a Saturday afternoon and installed the dog fence system with my husband. This dog fence allowed us to maximize our entire yard while in YatdMax mode. I now realize that walking the dogs is great for exercise but, now I realize the dogs get 3 times more exercise with the Yardmax dog fence. The YardMax has lived up to it's reputation. Thank you FlexPetz for your assistance in making my life easier with 3 big dogs.

  4. I would give this Yardmax Pro fence a high A rating for its price, features, and ease in installing. Review by Rudy

My only negative thought on this fence setup is that it only works with the one type of collar that it comes with. It seems like all the other Petsafe brand fences are compatible with lots of different fence collars.
The Yardmax only works with the Yardmax collar.
Now, the positives are too many to list.
    - Rechargeable collar
    - Super thick wire
    - Excellent surge protector
    - Correction area is everywhere outside the wire boundary
    - Maximum use of yard (like the name suggests)

I really don't know why more people don't setup their own fences like this. It is really an easy task, and training is more fun than it is a chore.
Now, I don't really have to worry about Gimo running out to get hit by a car or anything. He gets his play time, and everyone is happy.
This system is a very good investment and I'm glad I contacted the people at Flexpetz to help with this selection.

  5. I am really satisfied with my purchase of the YardMax dog fence system. Review by Tim B.

I bought this dog fence from this company and I am glad that I did. One of the most important aspects is they have excellent customer support. I had a couple questions during installation and they were answered by the helpful staff at FlexPetz. After installation life has been 10 times easier. My dog now can take full advantage of the entire yard. I highly recommend this system. The YardMax mode allows my dog more exercise. He is considered a family member. This system is well worth the expense.

  6. The YardMax fence Pro Grade is a top quality PetSafe product with a unique function. Review by Jan Furduche

I was taken aback by the cost of the YardMax fence, as compared to the other systems that PetSafe has to offer.
I contacted Flexpetz to see what the hubub was about and learned about the unique way that the YardMax will send a shock to the dog no matter how far she runs out of the enclosed area.
I really like this feature and have found it to be well worth the money.
I originally thought that wireless would be the way to go, but was told that it would not be very reliable under a metal roof.
The YardMax fence is priced on the high side for the fence systems, but it can do what no other fence can do.
I give this YardMax fence the two thumbs up seal of approval.

  7. Bought 2 Review by Jessie McHeallin

I bought one system for my home in Asbury Park, NJ during the summer of last year. We have a vacation home down here in Florida and after experiencing the great outcome of how the system worked up north, I decided to buy one for down here. I installed my second fence about a week ago and I have had no issues with the one up north or this one. I did not know how well it would work by burying the wire, but it was not hard at all down here with the crab grass. I would recommend this fence to anyone looking to confine their dog to specific areas. Works great!

  8. The YardMax was great investment. Review by Dog Lover Extraordinary

I did some research to locate the best value dog fence out there. I came across the FlexPetz website and after some research decided to go with the YardMax system that is on the site. The system was easy to install. I would recommend this system for dog owners looking for an awesome dog fence system. I had questions about the system and received great instruction from the support at FlexPetz. The investment that I made was a good one. Two thumbs up for the YardMax system.

  9. Happy Review by Gilligan Mowser

Very happy with this fence. I did not want to put a physical fence in my yard and cover all my land work I have done. I am used to doing outdoors work, so the set up was really not a hard project. I was impressed with the quality of the wire in this package and the smaller packages did not have the stranded wire that comes with this one. The collar fits wonderfully one my beauty and it is not as ugly as I pictured. My yard still looks great because i only cut down the grass and stapled the wire into the ground where I wanted it. Currently, 3 weeks later, the grass has grown over nicely and you cant notice let alone really find the wire if it weren't for the flags that I think is almost time to remove. She knows the boundary pretty well now and the system works perfectly. Before I was constantly calling her back over into the yard as she wandered while I was outside working on the yard work, but now she stays right within the area I would like her to be in but still has all the freedom to the back yard without going so far into the back neighbors yard. i am very happy with this and yes I would recommend it to all that have a medium sized dog. I liked the modes on the transmitter itself but took me a while to think of which worked best. I like the fact that the collar charges and can easily be removed and placed back on without issues.

  10. Infinite boundary rocks!!! Review by Chase

We previously had one of these fences we bought at a local pet store but our dog kept running through the boundary. We gave up on them after a few years but after moving to a knew house that doesn't allow fences we decided to give it another try. After just a few days of training (especially the distraction part) our pooch learned he can't get through the boundary like he could on the last system. This is a really neat feature, Also with the signal only comes off one side of the wire this is ideal since our current lot is only maybe a quarter of an acre. (Posted on 3/4/2015)

  11. Excellent Fence. The YardMax is perfect for containing a corgi. Very pleased. Review by Ali Mazzina

I never knew much about the static fences until I spoke with the staff at Flexpetz. They really helped me understand the differences in the varied systems that are out there.
Because of my living situation, I couldn't find a better system for me than the YardMax, by PetSafe.
It only makes sense to go with the Pro Grade version of it, since it will last at least as long as I'm at my home. I didn't want to worry about fixing degraded wire and the supreme wire in the Pro Grade kit will last and last.
I'm in longer than a month with my YardMax experience and am very happy with what I see so far.
I would surely recommend this system to friends.

  12. Great system. Wish it covered more acres, but great system Review by Eric Cunningham

I just spent a good deal of time going over some training on this system, with the Flexpetz staff last week.
Once everything came out of the box, it looked a bit overwhelming, and I'm not the best with printed instructions.
The professionals at Flexpetz were very attentive and went at my pace.
I learned a lot and feel much more confident with this fence now. I'm really glad I picked it up and hope to realize many many years of solid service from it.
I'm surely going to go back to Flexpetz for any other pet necessities.

  13. Yardmax is worth every penny. Review by Victor Lamar

The Yardmax electric fence is pretty expensive, compared to the other fences that Flexpetz sells. However, it's well worth the expense.
And the pro grade version is the way to go. I feel like if I make an investment on something like this, -I want to make sure it lasts a long time, and with the thick "extreme" wire, I know it will.
The system is now installed, and training was over last week. As of now, it's working like the Flexpetz guy said it would. I think his name is David or something. He spoke about how the fence would send out the static shock, and he was right on.
I didn't think I would spend so much on the fence system, but I made the right choice for sure. This Yardmax system is fantastic.

  14. Great Dog Fence Review by Billy Martin

I thought for many days to come and write a review and I think this would be good for people to hear.

I bought this fence from this company and actually spent what felt half the day on the phone with Johnny one of the sales techs. He explained the system and how it works and what I basically need to do when it arrives. He pulled me through this site and helped me plan out the rout I took with the wire and everything. He asked me valuable questions and made me laugh a lot. Made things a lot easier as time went on.

There are pages on this site that has become very helpful to me and I can not find anything like this online anywhere else. Very supportive and helpful information. I wish they had sites like this for every do it yourself project I have done, would have cut a lot of time.

I got the system in and the installation was a lot easier then I thought. The wire was very think, thicker then I really thought. I did mine with staples above ground on top of the short cut grass I cut and ran it under the driveway. Within a couple of days the wire was gone, not gone, just hidden. The whole process was extremely easy and I will be coming back to this site much. I also will be ordering a couple of the collars my wife has picked out on here.

The system works great and our dog was very easy to train. My son ended up buying the same system as well for their dog and I left the flags up because they come over all the time. Now the dogs can play around in the yard with no worries.

Now if we could get one for the kids that would be great please. (I'm Joking)

  15. I'm very impressed with this fence Review by Jon DeBiay

I don't have a lot of experience with these type systems, but I'm really happy with the YardMax Pro system. So far so good. I haven't had a single problem with it. I heard lots of good things about it, and knew the pro system would be the best way to go. I'm really impressed. Way to go Flexpets. (Posted on 12/13/2014)

  16. Dude, this YardMax wire fence frickin rocks. Review by Marty Chalmers Jr.

This thing is awesome. One thing I can say is that if you thing this Yardmax is overpriced, think again. This system is the bomb. Best thing to keep a sneaky lhasa from making a break for it.
It was a little tricky to setup at first, because of the cable wire in the yard, but a few adjustments and BOOM, fenceage.
I accidentally set the collar to high to start and it scared the dooky out of Lil Momo. Sorry Mo.
Got it on level 2 and that does the job.
I'd get this thing again and again. Can I add a bigger dog to the fence?

  17. The YardMax Pro Grade Dog Fence Is High Quality And In A Class All Its Own. Review by Flying Ryder

This fence package is in a category that sets itself apart from most of the other wire shock fences that are available, especially in a kit that the end user/customer can setup and configure themselves.
I'm a hands on type of person and don't like the idea of having someone come out and setup a product that I can be capable of setting up myself.
Aside from that, the cost of having someone come setup this type of fence system is outrageous.
I contacted a few places both online and pet stores. It seems that the best bargains I found ended up being with Flexpetz. The staff there are patient and knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had about how these systems work.
I ended up very pleased with what I got and would highly recommend the YardMax Pro Grade Fence to anyone.
Flexpetz is definitely the company to go with, whether you're a novice or skilled customer.

  18. This is tons better than the Guardian system. YardMax is way better already. Review by Robert Booker

Just another perfect example of a lesson learned in "you get what you pay for".
While this YardMax Pro Grade fence is relatively inexpensive as compared to the Invisible Fences that you have the companies come out and install for you, it is still a big investment.
I learned, in trying to go cheap (with the Guardian fence), that cheaper is not always better.
That Guardian mess is a pile...
When this YardMax is installed, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. There's not running through the zapping area and being clear on the other side. The zapping area is everywhere except inside the wired area. I love that.
I'm now considering adding some of the indoor barriers, to make sure no dogs get on the furniture. I think they're compatible.

  19. Amazing Product Review by Jason Amador

What an amazing product! I live Chicago, but was recently transferred to a branch of our company located in the country. I was deeply worried about the move as my wife's beloved Kaninchen Dachshund, Max, wasn't used to the country and its wide open spaces. Shortly after moving in, we became mortified, as our dog would constantly run after cars on a nearby busy stretch of road.

We attempted to keep the dog inside, only to have him constantly barking at all hours of the day. He refused to eat and seemed quite depressed at the thought of no longer being able to go outside The situation got so bad that my wife was in tears and even contemplated giving her beloved dog away.

Not wanting to tear the two apart, I vowed to find a solution to the situation. After several hours of internet research, I decided that a dog fence system was the best way to resolve the situation. I called up a professional company and they arrived and completed a consultation on my property. I was shocked to find out that my rather large backyard would cost several thousands of dollars to professional fence. There was no way I was going to spend this without getting a second opinion, so I headed to the vet who instead suggested D.I.Y. Pet Fence. I found the price to be much more acceptable and ordered it right away. After 6 hours on a Saturday afternoon I managed to have the whole system installed and up and running.

The 1000 feet I ordered was more than enough to fence my whole backyard and the heavy duty ground staples really insured that the wire was nice and secure in the soil. The dog is now free to roam are large backyard and gets all his energy out running around four to five hours during the day.

My wife especially loves indoor zones which allow her to keep Miley away from the trash cans. The PetSafe YardMax collar is also great as it's small and lightweight and perfect for our 12 pound dog, allowing him to do all the things he usually does without any discomfort. The fit feature also ensures that the collar is fitted properly and doesn't unnecessarily hurt our dog or reduced the usefulness of the fence. I can't say how much of a difference the YardMax system has made in our lives. From being cooped up inside tearing the house or to freely running outside and being his normal.

Wonderful product, we really love it.

  20. Very happy with our new fence Review by Sarah

I am the loving owner of a Bull Terrier named Terry. Terry is a very boisterous dog and we have had problems keeping him under control. I have never felt comfortable letting him roam in the back yard as he likes to go beyond our garden, causing problems with the neighbors.

We decided to upgrade our fencing but we were priced out by the very expensive installation costs, we simply couldn't afford to spend over 1000 dollars for the fence to be installed. We discovered Flexpetz after further research online. My husband discussed our situation with a very helpful member of staff. We decided to purchase the PRO-Grade dog fence and it has proven to be an excellent decision.

The PRO-grade kit is heavy duty, the staples and wire are substantial and durable, it is clearly built to last. Installing the fence was easy and it saved us a lot of money. The correction is a sufficient deterrent for Terry and it didn't take long for him to learn to not go beyond the fence, dogs are not stupid and he didn't require much training to become accustomed to his new surroundings. The collar didn't cause him any problems either.

I finally feel comfortable letting Terry roam around, safe in the knowledge that our new fence will keep him within our boundaries. I feel assured knowing Terry is safe and our neighbors will not be pestered.

  21. Good system | Works well several minor issues Review by Ed

I have two dogs that are too strong for my children to walk without my help and decided it was time to build a fence to make it easier to let them out. I have never wanted a fence because we share our backyard with all of our neighbors and it gives us one huge backyard to use, so putting up a fence would upset many people. Also very costly.

My friend told me to look into invisible dog fencing and I realized this would be the best solution for everyone. I couldn't believe how expensive it was going to cost for a professional installation from the first companies I looked into. I then found this site and purchased the PetSafe YardMax Pet Fence PRO-Grade, which I installed by myself and saved a huge amount of money. Now my children can let the dogs out without bothering me and they never leave the yard. It's great that we are still able to share yards with all of our neighbors and I am not looked at as the un-friendly neighbor that had to put up a fence and ruin it for everyone. I am completely satisfied with the results, the amount I paid for the fence and how easy it was to install it myself. My dogs, my children, my wife, my neighbors and myself would like to thank you for such a great product that we will get a lot of use out of over the years.

I have several minor issues with this system
The nylon collar is a bit cheaper then what you would expect.
There are several random weak spots where the system runs parallel to my cable lines.
The collar is a little heavier then what I expected for my very small dog

    The Pros

Very heavy duty wire including the twisted wire, at least 5 times thicker than what I had seen in petco and other websites
The upgraded surge protector seem beefy and has a Lifetime warranty according to Flexpetz and the retail box
It comes with twisted wire, which made installation much easier
    3 year extended Flexpetz warranty
Great customer service, very impressed with the folks I spoke to at the retailer

  22. Excellent value Review by roadkilldxh

The DIY was a great idea, save on installation. Being able to have it cover indoor and outdoors was awesome, but the best part for me was being able to add more collars. We do puppy sit, so having the system be versatile enough to accommodate those needs with the system costing an arm and leg was just awesome. Overall, I love it. As DIY systems go, you are not going to get a better system for this price and quality. The only complaint I have is the interference issues in the front of the yard, Im really hoping the dogs don't figure out that there are several weak areas. (Posted on 10/11/2013)

  23. Great System - Awesome Vaue compared to Pro Installers Review by Danny

As my friend move was helping me move into a my new house , the question came up of what would be the best built and cost effective fence that I should use for my German Shepard. The solution was the PetSafe Yard Max Fence PRO-Grade that checked off all the things he needed for to make sure his dog was safe and also didn't break the bank price wise.

Price: First of all it was the right price, seeing that you truly do get what you pay. Getting an estimate from FlexPetz was 1/5 the cost than that of the Pro's. We got several estimates, one from Dog Watch, PetStop and of course Invisible Fence.

Dog Watch wanted 1300 dollars for a system that didn't have half the features that the yard max did, they also wanted us to buy batteries for the collar from them, real expensive.
PetStop wanted 1500 dollars, nice small collar, rechargeable as well, but 1500 dollars please, so your charging me over 400 dollars per hour to install some cable
Invisible Fence - Has a system similar to the Yard Max called boundaries plus 2000 dollars then a hundred dollars per year for their expensive batteries...I don't think so. They also tried to tell me their wire is special and nobody else sells it.
Of course we chose to do it ourselves and save at least a thousand dollars. Not to mention the Yard Max Pro comes with rechargeable collars, so no batteries to buy.

Construction. These fences are built to last with heavy duty wire, and only the best surge protectors. With the three year warranty and a lifetime warranty on the parts, you really can't beat it.

Training: From what my friend has told me, there has been no problems with his dog. This fence ensures he stays where he needs to, and maintains his well trained attitude.

In all FlexPetz truly does a great job with the products the sell. Very happy with the savings and I really can't imagine you could get anything with better features and usability from one of the Pro's

Also wanted to give a shout out to Steve who walked me through the training, Thanks Steve been over a month since we installed it and its working out great.

  24. For the love of Rambo & Maggie! Review by Debra

I live in southern Mo, where fields go and go and hills are there to climb. Being in the country has it's perks, but it also has its acres and acres of wooded land where hunters practice the sport. No Trespassing means nothing and gunfire is heard from all directions sometimes.

In 2011 My Rambo came up missing and after a couple of days searching, we found him at the creek, shot!. It was a sad time for us. We had him for 8 years and now Maggie his sister was alone. She also wept for days.

We knew that we could not stop the hunters, so we decided to put up a fence to protect and safe keep Maggie. We looked at
so many different brands and styles but either the price was to expensive, or the maintenance was ridiculous. We wanted a system that was dependable, affordable, and easy to upgrade when we wanted.

My husband came across the Petsafe Yardmax Pro-Grade and was pretty impressed by the features of the fence. It was made especially for dogs over 10 lbs, had a small and lightweight collar that when fully charged lasted about a month. It came with 500 ft. of the heavy duty wire and we purchased an extra 500 ft so that we could give Maggie extra room to run. We also loved that it had a “Run Through Feature”
and a “Space Saving Technology”so our Maggie would be safe in our zones.

The kit included everything we needed, was complete with instructions and my husband installed it with no problems. We used the staples in leiu of burying the wire. It also came with boundary flags to let the hunters know of the fence,

We loved the 3 year guarantee but so far have not needed it. The price was even more attractive at just $476.00. We know that it has saved our Maggie and we still miss our Rambo. Every cent we have spent however has been worth it.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone and have!

  25. Great Product Which I Recommend Review by Jane M

I recently lost my dog a few weeks ago after it managed to escape out of our backyard and ran into on coming traffic, after thousands of dollars spent on vet bills he unfortunately didn't make it, watching how upset my children were for weeks after was truly heartbreaking. After buying a new dog the next thing I went to buy was a dog security fence to make sure nothing like this ever happens again and give me a piece of mind.

I shopped around local companies and checked the phone book phoning various companies but all of the prices were extortionate or had expensive set up fees which required regular maintenance. So my next best option was to look on the internet and I checked various websites and Flexpetz name just kept coming up with excellent reviews.

Once I checked the website I was very impressed, they offered the same equipment as my local stores at a fraction of the price. After contacting customer care regarding questions about certain products and delivery I was even more impressed, the customer care are very nice people who do everything the can to satisfy the customer (hard to come across this now a days!) The Flexpetz rep steered me towards the pro grade version of the yard max, basically all the same heavy duty options the pros use for installations without the $2000 dollar price tag (although defintely more expensive then the standard installation kits you find on the internet.).

I was a bit concerned about installing the system myself, but it turned out that is was pretty simple aside from a little bit of hard labor, I ran into a few issues during the installation and was talked through them by the flexpetz rep. Really appreciative that Steve took about a half hour to walk me through some stuff.

I decided to buy the PetSafe Yard Max Pet Fence. The installation was extremely easy and you don't even notice it unless you know it's there already. I recommended this fence to all my family and friends as it's excellent value for money compared to all my local companies who probably buy from Flexpetz in the first place and charge a premium for being a middleman. The product also came with a 3 year warranty which is really impressive. I've seen the fence in action and it a great deterrent that really works!

Thanks Flexpetz, now I can let my new dog out and not have to worry! =)

  26. Great fence Review by JohnDWill

A while ago my wife and I got an American Eskimo who we love very much. The problem was, he was always getting out and barking at people. We decided to get this pro-grade system, and it works like a charm. Our dog now knows not to go where he isn't supposed to. If this fence has a flaw, it's that the battery doesn't last that long. Still, it's well worth the price also one area in my yard is bit sporadic where the line runs next to a cable.

  27. Great product, Pricey Review by JB

I decided to try PetSafe YardMax so we could keep our boxer in the yard. We have a fence that has a lot of gaps in it. After doing weeks of research before purchasing this one, we had found that other products had many faults and it didn't make us feel comfortable using them. One of the major faults we found in most of the systems was the distance set back, basically your dog has to stay 5-7 feet from the line. Since we have a zero lot line, this just wouldn't do, in essence our dog would have no room in the yard. The yard max is unique in the fact that the collar actually activates right on the wire and the signal field can be set to about a hundred feet on the opposite side of the wire. What a great feature, without this option I doubt we would have done a fence.

Our pet is our family and we wanted to make sure we could keep our boxer safe and happy.

The rechargeable collar was a perfect fit. It was solid. It didn't feel as if it was made with fine plastics that couldn't hold up to the weather or from an active dog that likes roll around in every surface in the backyard. The signal strength was great and the different levels of so called "Corrective Stimulation" by other companies was good too. I don't want to torture my dog just keep him in the yard.
The only real complaint I had was that one area in the yard seems to have some interference issues, the collar just doesn't react as well as it does in the rest of the yard, really shouldn't be an issue but its curious to me.

I am telling you this product has given us a lot of piece of mind and I would tell anyone that has a dog that this is a great way to keep them where they are supposed to be.

The ad on cable that comes with the pro systems is definitely noticeable, I had looked at systems from home depot, and all the materials where very cheaply made.

Definitely more expensive, but should pay for itself over time I think.

  28. Great product / Slight interference problem Review by John Mitchison

One thing I must say is that this product has really been of great use as to keeping my dogs from getting out of my yard. I have 2 3 rottweilers, & before I even got PetSafe YardMax Pet Fence PRO-Grade, they would always find a way 2 find a gap in the fence and run off,..but NOW that I've got this product EVERYTHING's goin' just as I've planned.

I like that this company gives you the same heavy duty wire and surge protector that the Invisible Fence people use when they install a fence.

I did notice one flaw in the system, it runs parallel to my cable in the front of my house, so the collar randomly does not react to the fence, my dogs may never figure it out, but this is a concern in retrospect I would have buried the wire further back.

  29. Safe and reliable. Review by Alicia Reppert

I was always skeptical about an invisible fence for my dogs and worried if it would actually work. The other problem was the cost, I had looked into a few companies and they cost a few thousand dollars. After moving to a house with much bigger property, and having to go outside with my two dogs multiple times a day and them pulling me on the leash because they just want to run free, I decided to look into the invisible fence again. I came across reviews about the PetSafe YardMax Pet Fence ProGrade and was thrilled. Not only did it cost a fraction of the price, a few hundred compared to thousands but it offered great features. I don't have to buy batteries like I was told with the other companies every so often that cost around hundred dollars because this battery is rechargeable, but I only have to charge it about once a month. Another thing I love about the YardMax is the collars fit perfect and make sure every time you put it on it is fit correctly on your dog so they cannot get it off. The collars are also lightweight so my dogs don't mind having it on.

The system was easy to install and when I wasn't sure about something when setting up the fence I called customer service and was given professional and courteous help. The run through prevention was great , since one time my dog decided to try to chase a squirrel across the line, he ran about ten feet into the fence and came running back, this was the last time he tested it.

I would recommend this system to anyone with dogs, it is great as an owner to know my dogs are safe and i don't have to walk them all the time with a bad back and they have their freedom of running. I have border collies that are natural herding dogs and runners so they love they're new found freedom and are intelligent and learned the boundaries fairly quickly. I wish I could thank the actual inventor of this product and how they looked at flaws from other companies such as price, purchasing batteries, correcting settings on collars and space maximizer and came up with the PetSafe YardMax Pet Fence ProGrade. It really is professional quality and is worth every penny and has a three year guarantee, which not every company offered.

I can not stress enough how much it has improved the quality of life for my dogs and myself. Having an injury is not easy, walking the dogs and they want to run around without being restricted but of course as an owner you worry about letting your dogs run free and fearing they get lost or injured. Having the PetSafe system has made it easier on me not hurting myself by running with my dogs and they love being outside in the fresh air and not having to wait on me to take them out. I love this product and my only regret is that I wish I found it sooner.

  30. awesome Review by marissa anna

I have two Jack Russel Terriers and some how they always find a way to get thru our post and rail fence. Being a pet owner to these dogs our dogs are like our children that get into everywhere and anywhere and if you are familiar with Jacks, you would know they tend to get into everything and anything .One of my close friends found this site online and told me about it . I decided to call as opposed to trying to siphon through so much information on the internet. My friend who had bought a pet fence from them told me it was worth every penny she spent and she had told me she had called them a bunch of times and had always gotten very helpful professional advice.

So i talked to my skeptical husband to see what he thought, he cautioned me to do a little more research. So after a bunch of calls to Flexpetz I ordered the YardMax PRO-Grade Pet Fence. It came within 3 days shipping was and free . So me and my husband took the day off from work to installed the pet fence, although the installation was required some digging and was hard work, generally speaking it was simple enough for a homeowner with very little mechanical ability to tackle.

One thing I really liked about the Yard Max system pro was the heavy duty wire, the kit also came with a flimsy wire in the package from the manufacturer, this wire seemed to be very low quality and I really cant image it would last. I think my favorite feature about the system is that the warning and shock actually start right on the wire, in comparison other fence systems we had looked at started 4-5 five feet away from the wire, with a quarter acre lot, this would have lost a good portion of our yard. The one complaint that I have about the system was the price, definitely much more expensive then some of the other ones we had looked at by a couple of hundred dollars, but I believe it is worth it in the long run because of the heavier duty materials. We did get an estimate from Invisible Fence and there cost for an installation was about 3 times as expensive, we also did a little investigating and found that there batteries cost almost a hundred dollars a year per dog, the sales man was very general land seemed to be almost embarrassed by this when we called him on in. This system seems to be just as good and use rechargeable batteries. It has been almost a month now since we installed it, the dogs learned the boundaries very quickly and we are quite happy and my husband is no longer skeptical, probably the biggest fan since he doesn't have get up and take the dogs outside every hour.

This fence is great and has certainly made life owning to crazy Jack Russel Terriers much easier.

  31. perfect for my 6 dogs Review by littledogowner

Ok, here is what happened. My family has 6 little dogs (20 pounds and under) and we recently moved from a large apartment in the city to a big house with 2 acres in the country. For the first week everything was great, the dogs loved playing outside and the fence that was there seemed to be working great, until we got a call from both of our neighbors letting us know that our dogs were tearing up their flower beds and chasing their cats all around their yards. We had a problem; they were digging under the fence in loose dirt.

Our neighbors gave us 2 weeks to fix it, or they were going to call the homeowners and in our neighborhood, that is terrible.
To solve the problem I called out a local pet fence installer and he pitched an electric system with special collars for each dog. The fence price was over 3500 dollars and it came and that didn't include the yearly battery charges.. I started researching on the internet and after hours of looking, I came across this website. I checked out the features and the availability of multiple collars (six to be exact) along with the price, it was one fifth the cost of the similar system but with more features. I ordered immediately and received it in about 3 days, definitely fast shipping.

When I got the system, I was impressed, the collars were rechargeable, a blessing when you have six dogs especially when I found out that it was about 85 dollars a year per dog to replace the batteries on the fence that the local guy pitched. The system was easy to install, although it did require about a days labor, and the wire that came with it was surprisingly heavy duty (the local guy pitched that his wire was the strongest and only pro dealers carried this type of wire. (The wire I received from flexpetz looks exactly like the samples he showed me.) I also added the option to have the indoor system and now I can keep the dogs out of my room or the bathroom whenever I want.

This was worth every penny alone.) Another one of the pro guys pitches was that he would service the system, when I pressed him on this he basically stated they would have to charge me 95 dollars every time they came out after the first year. Its really not that complicated, I has several technical questions and I was walked through them over the phone, so not really to worried about service its really pretty simple.
All in all, I couldn’t be happier with the price, the product and the fact that my neighbors no longer give me dirty looks. Oh, and I also get to take a nap in my own bed on the weekend without six little friends to keep me company.

One thing I have to mention is yes I found this product at other places, for cheaper but, none of them heavy duty materials that came with this, none of the ones that I called where very knowledgable about the system and basically just wanted to sell me a box of stuff. In the long run I know if ever have a technical problem I will get help. Also worth spending more to not have to deal with issues.

Thanks for all the help guys, you guys are fantastic

Comment / Questions about PetSafe YardMax Pet Fence PRO-Grade

Can you set a boundry zone - an audible or vibration alarm notice to pet before crossing wire?

Also, if you are just containing backyard and want use the house as a phsyical barrier can wire be close to base of house in the front and not correct dog in the house since this particular system only corrects one-way?

Hello and thank you for contacting flexpetz, the Yardmax has audible tone waring for the dog, but does not vibrate, an audible tone is normally enough warning for a dog, vibration is only available on a few of our models, but tends to be a battery draining feature and also only fits inside very large collars. For boundaries layouts you should visit our various layout pages, I'm pretty sure the Yardmax will accomplish what your looking for, but a good rule of thumb with any containment system is to leave a buffer zon when running wires close to you home. However you must be aware that the boundaries plus system works like any other in-ground containment system must must run a complete circuit, with no breaks from the starting to the end point.

Can I purchase the Yardmax Pro Grade with 1000ft of wire in a continuous strand instead of two 500ft rolls.

Hello Steven,

Yes absolutely, once you add additional 500 feet of wire we automatically give you a continuous spool unless you request other wise. Please let me if you have any other questions.
