The 14 gauge wire gets the job done right. I actually had found a Pro Grade fence system that was perfect, but wanted to come back and leave a review on the wire that came in the package.Price Quality Value
It's called eXtreme Brand, and my system comes with 1000' of it. The spool sat on the trencher perfectly, and I had nearly an acre's worth of wire buried and ready to plug in.
This stuff is nice and thick and the core is just big enough to fit into the terminals. It's really good stuff. I'm looking forward to many years of good performance.

This Extreme 14 gauge wire is head and shoulders over the garbage that comes in the PetSafe fence. If you are going to lay down a shocker fence, you should definitely consider using a quality wire. The Extreme wire does not cause any issues when installing it and is much thicker than the wire that comes in the fence kits. However, it's not so thick that you will have difficulty working with it.Price Quality Value
The Flexpets employee said it should last 20 years, so check with me in 19 and I'll give you my update. ha ha.

I've worked with a handful of them before, and know that the standard wire is really low on the standards list.
I think flexpetz is the only company to carry the Extreme wire, which is a little better than the average heavier 14 gauge wire.
I got that stuff in my hands and knew it was going to be perfect. I haven't run it and buried it yet, but know there isn't going to be a problem doing so.
I'm really pleased with this spool and hope I never have to replace it. Chasing down wire breaks is no fun at all.

I like this dog fence wire, it is almost overkill and is a little harder to deal with because of its thickness, but after 7 years of dealing with the cheap wire my petsafe kit originally came with, its worth it. I spent many a weekend looking for breaks in my old wire, it almost seemed like it would break for no good reason all the time.
