This rugged and reliable GPS electronic dog fence and remote training unit is designed for the harshest field conditions. The collar is waterproof and will take anything Mother Nature dishes out. Water-resistant handheld unit features a 2.4" TFT color LCD display for easy viewing. It features 50 stimulation intensity levels including momentary, nick and continuous. Choose from three types of stimulation, including positive vibration, jump stimulation and rise stimulation. Training range up to two miles line-of-sight. GPS fence mode provides custom training radius from 15 yards (.15 acre) to 800 yards (415 acres). Warning zones are indicated with a vibration, beep, vibration/stimulation or beep/stimulation with delay. Up to four additional way-points can be marked in addition to the saved fence center.

The containment area can have a radius of 15 yards to 800 yards from the fence center and can consist of a safe zone, warning zone, and stimulation zone. Warning zone notifications include vibration only, audible beep only, vibration with delayed stimulation (V+S), or audible beep with delayed stimulation (B+S). Fifty levels of intensity are available in the stimulation zone. Different levels of stimulation and vibration and audible beeps can be used to keep your dog within the different boundary zones. In the e-fence mode, fence view tracking capability (up to 2 miles line-of-sight) gives direction and distance of your dog from the fence center and updates the status of the collar unit (Warning, Stimulation, Out of Boundary, etc.).

If your dog ever leaves the containment area, the exclusive welcome home feature allows your dog to return to the safe zone without being corrected. Once the e-fence is activated, the handheld unit does not need to be on for the e-fence to operate. The Border Patrol TC1 can also store up to 5 way-points including the automatically saved fence center.

In addition, the Border Patrol TC1 is a fully functional remote training system. This system has a 2 mile range (line of sight) and 50 intensity levels of momentary "Nick" and continuous stimulation. Jump stimulation, rise stimulation, and vibration are also available at your fingertips.

  1. I suppose this system can be a good solution for many. However, I just needed the fence part. Review by Rogie Q

This seems to be the only wireless fence that can cover an area larger than an acre. That is a downfall of many wireless fences.
This Border Patrol kit covers enough space for my fence, but also has a dog trainer and tracking feature. I don't really need that part, and had a little trouble with the manual being so full of info on everything.
Another thing to mention is that the collar is really bulky. Luckily, my dog is a German Shepherd, and it's not too bad on his neck. This definitely wouldn't work on a smaller dog.
It cost 600 bucks, but as long as the fence holds, it's money well spent. I wasn't about to go burying a lot of wire.
I would more recommend this to someone who could take advantage of all the included features of this kit. However, I'm happy. : ) (Posted on 2/5/2016)

  2. Pro hunting system Review by Sylvester Jackson

I like that I can take my pets hunting, then when I am home I can contain and train my dogs. Nice system and easy to navigate on the remote. (Posted on 12/21/2015)

  3. A lot of space Review by Kyle Lebranon

This system gives my dogs a lot of space to run their little hearts out through my property. 800 yards is 6.5 football fields, go figure! Also the trainer is a plus and not an extra collar on top of the collar for the containment. I will recommend this to all my friends, (Posted on 10/26/2015)

  4. Great Review by Phillip Norasak

Finally a system that has all three things I was looking for, I do wish the had a smaller collar for my little runt terrier. (Posted on 8/5/2015)

I imagine I have to put the central radio under the roof of the house or inside it. In the back of my house there are other houses, so I am afraid the signal could be lost on this side.
Can I define a half circle as virtual fence?
Could a few trees represent an obstacle?
May I use in Italy?
thank you! marco

Hello Marco,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
A base station is placed somewhere inside your home (has to be inside). The base station sends out a circular sphere signal around the property (strictly circular, you cannot change that). You can adjust the range of the radius.
For many people, this does not work because the dog would be on the neighbor’s property, or out in the street (depending on your property).
Do you think this might be appropriate for you property?
You can use the DT TC1 Border Patrol in any country.
The houses will not affect the signal.
Yes trees are fine just not heavily saturated woods.
Please let me know if I answer all of your questions.

Does this gps unit have trouble with uneven yards, raised flower beds and hills. Also I have a metal roof, will that cause problems?

Hello Tessa,
That system will not have any issues with hills or slopes, raised flower beds and your metal roof. The beauty of GPS is that there is no interference. I believe you would be happy with this system.

Hey I'm wondering if I can actually set the boundary line. My house sits 100 feet off of the road, but I have much more land behind me. So basically I'm asking can I set it to specific feet/yards. Something like 100 feet west, 30 feet north 300 feet south and 1000 feet east?? in each direction.

Hello Jordan,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Unfortunately you can not do that with Gps and wireless systems.
The best way to do an uneven property is used a wired system honestly.
You can customize the area and have it made specific to fit your property.
You can expect it to take you a day or less to get your dog fence installed. You don’t even necessarily need to bury the wire. You may choose to secure the wire to the ground using dog fence staples. You can also staple it to a structure that is already present, such as a fence or a wall. It just depends on the terrain in your yard. In wooded areas, you can definitely secure the wire to the ground where there are rocks or tree limbs present.
If you do decide to bury the wire, 1-3 inches is plenty deep enough. Using a power edger to create a trench will make the job easier for you. If you take a look at this link, it outlines all the specifics on how to install your electric dog fence: https://www.flexpetz.com/wire-installation Also check out this page for full installation details, it may seem a little overwhelming but for the most part installing is relatively simple and requires nothing more but a little back bone and some really basic tools, but we have covered every possible detail of installation on this page https://www.flexpetz.com/dog-fence-installation just click on the link and let us know if you have any questions....we are here to help.

I will be moving to a new house and have 2 dogs. .25 acre lot with a house on each side of me except the road. The yard is flat in the front but sloped pretty bad in the back. I would like to do a wireless fence because we take the dogs to the lake usually where we have another house and could use this up their as well. One dog loves to swim, would i need to take his collar off before he swims? I understand the perimeter is a circle. what increments does it increase from the .15 acre to 800 yards? If I get an additional collar can I have 2 separate settings for correction levels for each dog? Is the home unit where I set the center of the fence the remote or something different? I didn't see what type of batteries these collars take, are they rechargeable or do I have to buy them from you or the manufacturer?

The Border Patrol's collar is waterproof. You can leave it on when he swims, if you so choose. Just be sure to keep the unit watertight when doing so.
You will set your zones by yards, with the minimum amount being 15 yards in each zone.
Yes, each individual dog's collar correction setting is set per that dog's requirement. They don't share a setting.
You do use the handheld remote to set your fence coordinates.
These collars use a rechargeable (replaceable) lithium ion battery.

I've been interested in this fence system for a long time, but I'm hesitant to put out the money to find out it doesn't work on my Pyranees. The more he travels (8 km sometimes) the more I have to find something that will keep him on our 80 acres. Do I need to have wifi for the system to work?

You do NOT need to have a wifi system to use this Border Patrol system. You need only set your GPS coordinates (center, warning zone, correction zone), and you're ready to train your dog.
The collar will surely accommodate a Pyranees. There are 50 different correction levels to choose from. You would simply move up that level tree slowly, until you find the best fit for your pooch.

If you'd like to read more about the system directly from the manual, you can do so by clicking HERE.

Hope that helps. Cheers.

I am looking for a unit that will travel with me. If I have the remote on my belt will the fence perimeter move with me or is it controlled by the base located in my home?

The fence coordinates are based on the GPS coordinates you set. The fence doesn't move when the handheld remote does.
Hope that helps.

How big does the collar go? We have a one year old bullmastiff with a 26 inch neck and he's not done growing!

The collar strap will accommodate necks up to 27".

I live in Canada and am wondering if the temperature rating means it will not work in a colder climate. It is not uncommon for it to be -25c outside for days at a time.

Hi Travis,
The manufacturer makes these recommendations, concerning termperature:
- Do not operate unit outside these temperatures: -2º F to 130º F.
- Do not recharge the unit outside these temperatures: 33º F to 105º F.
- Do not leave unit in or around a high temperature heat source. In
particular, do not leave unit unattended in a vehicle on a hot day or
exposed directly to sunlight for extended periods (see battery

As such, it's probably not a good idea to purchase this system for your pooch.
I hope this helps.

I have a redbone hound and he keeps trying to run through my underground fence. How wide of an area will this shock my dog or is set on a timer? I need Something that he won't try to run through.

You dictate where (in relation to your center coordinate) that the correction zone begins. If your dog is in the correction zone, he/she will continue to get stimulation for up to 8 seconds, unless the dog returns to the containment area before that.
After 8 seconds, the collar receiver correction will stop (for the safety of the dog). This is a standard feature on ALL static correction dog fence systems.
I hope that information helps.

Would a house with poured concrete walls reinforced with steel affect or block the signal?

Typically, you would not want to train your dog from inside the home. You will want to be outside with him or her.

I have a few questions
1. How long do the collar batteries last for?
2. Does my center GPS point need to be where the unit will be housed or can I offset it to include more area behind the house and less in front?
3. What type of warranty do you offer with the unit and collars?

The life of the battery is really going to depend on how much the system is used, and when you recharge the batteries (in relation to the amount of charge left on them). The manufacturer says between 2-5 years.

The circular area can be set to any GPS coordinates you like. The handheld transmitter doesn't even have to be turned on, after you've chosen and set your fence coordinates.

The system and collars have a 1 year parts and labor manufacturer's warranty (from date of purchase).

Does the antenna on the collar hold up to aggressive play with other dogs? Will it bend or break easily?

They manufacturer had problems with that issue in a previous iteration of the collar.
However, they have improved the antenna for just that reason, and we only carry the newer version.

I hope that information helps.
