The makers of the Pedigree® brand of dog food, Mars® Petcare US, issued a recall of 22 bags of Pedigree® Adult Complete Nutrition dry dog food on August 26, 2014. Small metal fragments were found within the bags of dry dog food, and while the fragments were not embedded in the food itself, the company issued a recall due to the risk of injury the pieces represented if consumed by pets. The product in question were 15-lb bags of Pedigree® Adult Complete Nutrition dry dog food with a lot code of 432C1KKM03 and a “best by” date of 8/5/15. Both the lot code and the “best by” date can be found at the bottom of the bag close to the UPC code.
