3-Dog Fence Kits
Do you need a DIY dog fence for three dogs? We have taken our best-selling electric dog fence systems and customized them for 3-dog households. Our custom 3-dog electric fence kits simplify the process of choosing a DIY dog fence for three dogs.
How does a 3-dog electric fence work?
The electric dog fence system is made up of three main components: the transmitter, the receiver collars, and a boundary wire. The transmitter is the central control of the electronic system and powers the wire perimeter, while the receiver collars worn by your dogs detect the boundary wire and issue the warnings and corrections when necessary.
With an electric dog fence, the boundary wire transmits a radio signal to the receiver collars worn by your dogs. When a dog approaches the boundary, the dog’s collar sounds a warning tone. If the dog continues closer to the boundary, the collar issues static correction to alert the dog to move back into the safe zone.
After proper training, your dogs will associate the tone with being too close to the boundary and will respond to the tone by moving back away from the boundary line.
Choosing A DIY Dog Fence For Three Dogs
Shopping for a DIY dog fence can be a confusing process; even more so when you need to ensure that the system you choose is suitable for all three of your dogs. With over 20 years in the dog fence industry we know which systems are suitable for 3-dog households and we’ve listed them here to help you narrow the field.
All the systems we’ve listed here are suitable for 3 dogs for the following reasons:
Individual Correction Levels: Individual correction levels allow you to assign the appropriate correction level setting to each collar individually. This allows you to customize the correction strength to each of your dogs rather than having one universal correction applied to all of your dogs regardless of their size and temperament differences.
Properly Sized Collar: One-size-fits-all doesn’t really apply in dog fence collars. In order for a dog fence collar to function properly it needs to fit properly; some systems that are multi-dog capable use a large or heavy receiver collar that would not be suitable for smaller dogs. All of the systems in this category have collars that are appropriate for a wide variety of dogs.
Batteries: Rechargeable or Replaceable? Batteries are a matter of personal preference. We generally prefer rechargeable batteries because they’re better for the environment, can be regularly recharged to minimize the possibility of the battery going dead when you need it, and you don’t need to fiddle with unscrewing battery compartments to replace them. However, some of our favorite systems don’t offer rechargeable batteries and some of our customers actually prefer replacing batteries every few months to recharging more frequently.
