Cats

Keeping your feline companion safe at home can prove to be a difficult task. Cats are not only independent but they love to explore and unlike *most* dogs, a standard fence is no obstacle. Cats are curious and stealthy by nature. While fascinating and endearing, these qualities also often lead them into trouble when they leave the safety of home. With an in-ground cat fence you can give your cat the freedom he deserves to explore without worrying about him roaming into harm’s way.

  • Working on the same principles as an electric dog fence, electric cat fences provide safe and effective containment. Like an electric dog fence, the Cat Fence teaches your pet the boundaries of her territory through avoidance conditioning. Once you decide on a layout and install your new fence, you’ll fit your cat with a compact, cat-safe receiver collar. As your cat approaches the boundary zone she’ll hear a warning tone reminding her that she is nearing the perimeter. If she does not heed the warning and continues into the boundary zone she will receive a harmless static correction (much like the shock you get when running your feet along a carpet). Set by the user, the adjustable correction level ensures that your cat is not over-corrected (which can result in fear) or under-corrected (the cat shows no response).

Although most often designed for dogs and marketed to dog owners, an electric fence containment system is an excellent solution for cat owners who want to offer their cat(s) the same freedom and safety as their dog(s). Cat fence systems are no different from electric dog fence systems in the functionality and principles; the differences lie in the receiver collar. The receiver collar designed for cats is smaller and more lightweight than the collars used for dogs. Even more importantly than size, the cat fence collar has a special stretch section to ensure your cat does not become trapped or tangled. The other significant difference between electric dog and cat fence collars is the correction level settings. Cats are far more sensitive than dogs and electric dog fence collars are not suitable for cats. Cat specific electric fence collars provide a stretch section for the safety of your cat and lower, shorter corrections to match a cat's more sensitive personality.

The Cat Fence we offer is designed to help you give your cats the freedom of outdoor exploration while also keeping them safe from the dangers of roaming too far from home.
