Wire breaks are a costly and time-consuming problem that many underground dog fence users experience. The factory-grade wire that pet fence manufacturers include in their kits and sell is a pretty low quality dog fence wire. Manufacturers generally include the thinnest 20-gauge underground fence wire in their kits and the wire they use has only a thin, water-resistent, vinyl jacket covering and protecting the copper wire. Over time, and especially in climates where the temperature varies, the vinyl begins to crack and degrade, exposing the copper to the elements. This leads to corrosion of the copper wire and eventually a wire break.
With more than 20 years experience selling and installing dog fences, we've spent plenty of time digging around looking for and fixing wire breaks. Using a heavy duty 16-gauge dog fence wire with a reliable polyethylene coating is the simplest way to protect your investment.
Our 16-Gauge Dog Fence Wire is thicker than manufacturer dog fence wire and coated in waterproof polyethylene. This hard plastic is far more durable than the vinyl coating you'll find on inferior dog fence wire.
